re:Blue on Mac: how to play Blue Dragon

re:Blue runs on a Mac. It is a static recompilation of the Xbox 360 RPG Blue Dragon, built with the ReXGlue toolkit, made by zolaware. The current release, 1.3.1 (October 5, 2026), ships a Mac build (apple Silicon only (Intel Macs would need to build it from source)). You supply your own copy of the game; re:Blue supplies everything else.

How to install re:Blue on a Mac

  1. Download the Mac zip from the project page and unzip it.
  2. Run reblue.app. A setup wizard opens and installs the game to a location you choose.
  3. Get past Gatekeeper. macOS blocks it the first time because the project is not signed by Apple. Control-click the app and choose Open. On macOS 13 or later, if that offers no Open button, go to System Settings, then Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway (it appears for about an hour after the first attempt).

re:Blue on its official page: download only from there. Sites offering a version with the game already inside are pirated, and often carry malware.

The game file you need

Your own copy of Blue Dragon: all three discs of the global (US/EU) release, as .iso files. The Asian release is not supported yet.

In the setup wizard, point it at each of the three disc images in turn (it checks each one), choose where to install, and pick a quality preset. DLC can be added from the wizard or the menu.

What you get

  • Up to 4K, 16:9 through 32:9 ultrawide
  • Unlocked frame rate with 30 to 120 fps caps
  • Save anywhere, a mod manager, and native keyboard and mouse

Saves and settings live in In the install folder (profiles/default), per the project's FAQ.

Known Mac issues

  • An open report (October 13) of 1.3.1 crashing on Apple Silicon; the reporter went back to 1.1.0

From the project's open issues on October 15, 2026; check its issue tracker for fixes.
